NEW HAVEN POLICE MAKE MULTIPLE ARRESTS IN BURGLARY AND FALSE REPORTING INCIDENTS
(11/8/2007) NEW HAVEN- At 1:34 Thursday afternoon, New Haven Police responded to an Alston Street address on a report of two suspicious people in the backyard. Two subjects were seen by residents entering a garage on Alston at which point they fled on foot and were apprehended several blocks away by patrol officers. Officers arrested two juveniles 13 and 14 years of age for Burglary 3rd, conspiracy to committed Burglary 3rd, Criminal trespass, possession of burglary tools and interfering with a police officer.
Also Thursday, New Haven Police investigated a robbery complaint at the Air Rights Garage at 66 York St. The complainant, 37-year-old Michael Levine of East Greenwich, Rhode Island stated he was robbed by an unknown black male with a Yankee hat on. The NHPD Patrol division, Investigative services, Yale Police and Yale New Haven Hospital security responded and searched the area. As the investigation progressed, involving video surveillance equipment in the garage, it was determined that the complainant lied about the incident and made a false complaint to police. Mr. Levine admitted to his lie and was charged with Falsely reporting an incident.
